Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981, in McComb, Mississippi and grew up in Kentwood, Louisiana. Her mother Lynn was a grade school teacher and her father Jamie Parnel Spears a building contractor . Her older brother Bryan Spears was born in 1977. Her sister Jamie Lynn Spears is ten years younger than her.
 As a youngster, Britney was drawn to music and sang to an audience of toy dolls in her bedroom. She joined the local church choir, and even became a contestant on the TV show "Star Search." Unlike most of us, she knew early on what she wanted to do. She was only 8 when she tried out for "The New Mickey Mouse Club." She wasn’t chosen to be a Mouseketeer at that point, but she did find an agent. For the next three summers, Britney studied dance and acting in New York. She did commercials and off-Broadway shows, too.
 Britney Steps Out
Britney was chosen to be a Mouseketeer at the age of 11, when she joined children like Keri Russell, Christina Aquilera and Justin Timberlake in the Disney production. All of them were destined for big things. As a teenager, Britney followed her dreams to New York. A few years later, her demo tape impressed the people at Jive Records, who signed her.
The Music
 Britney's debut album, “…Baby One More Time” was released on January 12, 1999. It took teens everywhere by storm, and sold 20 million copies and went 14x platinum. Her music video in a sexy schoolgirl uniform showcased Britney as an innocent young teen with a "bad girl" edge and brought her notoriety.
Her second album “Oops!.. I Did It Again” in 2000 when she was only 18 was also a grand slam hit. Her music influences were Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and Madonna. She also admires Goldie Hawn , Pink and country star Shania Twain. Britney co-wrote a book with her mother, Heart to Heart. Her third album "Britney" in 2001 and fourth album, "In The Zone" in November 2003 continued the success. These four albums have sold an unprecedented 84 million copies.
Britney the Mogul
With fame and celebrity came music awards, worldwide tours and television appearances. There were multi-million dollar endorsement deals with Pepsi, Target, Toyota and McDonald’s. There were movie and television appearances. She won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, “Toxic."
She also owned a restaurant for a few months, when she opened Nyla, named for her two favorite places, New York and Louisiana. Later she brought out a very successful line of perfumes. Her name has been the most popular of all Internet searches for six years. There is even a Britney Spears Museum in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana. In 2002 Forbes magazine named her the most powerful celebrity in the world.
Britney and Her Men
With success, her stage costumes and choreography became even more provocative, but she vowed to her teenage fans to remain a virgin until marriage.  "Just because I look sexy on the cover of Rolling Stone doesn't mean I'm naughty," she said. Gossip even linked her romantically to Prince William of Great Britain. But the big love in her life was Justin Timberlake, member of the group "N Sync” and a former Mouseketeer, too.
Britney’s breakup with Justin Timberlake in 2002 after three years marked the turning point in her life. She remade her performances and her lifestyle. Her costumes and dances became more erotic. She and Madonna scandalized her fans with an on-stage kiss, and she traveled in the party scene. Still hard-working and career oriented, in her personal life she became impulsive and rebellious. The constant scrutiny of the paparazzi and the tabloid gossips undermined her attempt to build a normal life for herself.
While in Las Vegas, she married a childhood friend on the spur of the moment, a marriage that was annulled fifty-five hours later. Britney was quoted as saying, "I really wanted to see what it was like to be married.
The Marriage
Kevin Federline was a backup dancer and already a young dad, father of a child with actress Shar Jackson and their second baby on the way.  Britney knew him for three months before she married him, despite widespread public disapproval. Everyone thought that Britney married Kevin Federline in a secret, lavish ceremony in September 2004. However, the couple had signed a legal disclaimer which states that the September ceremony was not intended to be a marriage. Britney and Kevin were legally married on October 6, 2004, after they signed a prenuptial agreement.
Britney said she always want to be a young mother. Septemer 14, 2005, she gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston Federline and then September 12, 2006 gave birth to her second son, Jayden James Federline. “I guess you could say my child is my religion,” she said thoughtfully.
Although she took a leave of absence from her career, she and Kevin had a 6-week reality show on UPN called "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic." And she appeared on the TV series "Will & Grace." As a new mom, she was inspired to launch another business venture, a line of baby clothes called “Babies are Rock and Roll.” Yeah, I like money,” she joked in an interview
Falling into Space
November, 2006, Britney filed for divorce from Kevin on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. She is asking for legal and physical custody of the children. Lately her life has become a series of public misbehaviors, partying with famous personalities, alcohol and substance abuse, exhibitionism and public nudity. The paparazzi and the tabloids pursued her ferociously to cover every episode of her collapse, but her family rallied around her. Three times she has checked herself into rehab and then changed her mind. She shaved her head and has taken to wearing a shiny platinum wig. Her sheared hair is for sale on the Internet. Britney’s life looked like a train wreck and a media circus.
Music celebrity, marketing powerhouse, devoted daughter and mother, gum chewing country girl, everyone wishes her well. Britney has only to deliver the next blockbuster album and her fans will turn on the love again.
