EASY INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUDOKU
No Math is Required, Just Logic
- Your goal is to fill the empty cells with the numbers 1 through 9.
- Each row should contain all the numbers 1 through 9 in any order. There can be no duplicates.
- Each column should contain all the numbers 1 through 9 in any order. There can be no duplicates.
- Each small mini square of 3x3 cells should contain all the numbers 1 through 9 in any order. No duplicates.
- To add a number, click on an empty cell. The red question mark appears. Then use the number bar at the bottom of the board. Click on the number to fill the empty cell.
- To erase a number, click on it. Then click anywhere else on the page.
- The game is over when the board is full.
- The computer will give you the answer.

EASY STRATEGY FOR NEWBIES
- Choose a number which appears often on the board, and find all instances of that number. Let's say it's the number 4.
Look at the third square (the 3x3 mini square). Does it contain a 4? No. Where in the mini could a 4 possibly go? Look down each row and column for 4's. Is there one cell in the mini which has to contain a 4? Analyze each 3x3 mini square like this. - Choose another number, say 5. Locate all the instances of number 5. Then check each 3x3 mini to see which cell has to have a 5.
- With practice, you will quickly see the rows and columns with 5's, and you will follow those rows and columns to find the 3x3 mini where they intersect.
- There are additional strategies for advanced puzzles.
- Sudoku players enjoy this searching process and become skillful at it.
